Compensation granted to passengers taking Air Seychelles flights delayed or canceled
Airlines such as Air Seychelles make every effort to transport travelers to their destination. Unfortunately, it can sometimes happen that a flight experiences disruptions. It can be an overbooking, a delay or a flight cancellation due to a social movement internal to the airline company.
Social movements are one of the main causes of the disturbances. It may be an external strike, for example from the air traffic controller (air traffic controller). You are also entitled to two telephone calls, fax or email. If the wait lasts at least one night, the company will have to offer you the hotel as well as the transport to this hotel (but the legislation does not impose a particular type of hotel, nor the proximity of the airport).
– The reimbursement of your ticket, without any other compensation. It is certainly this option that you will be offered as a priority. It is also the one that you may be forced to accept if you cannot afford to delay your departure by one or more days, even if you are offered the hotel. In this case, you will be reimbursed for the price paid, but you must re-route on your own and at your expense.
If the cancellation of the flight operated by the Seychellois Air Seychelles is not due to conditions which could not be avoided by the company, you are entitled, in addition to the two previous options, to immediate compensation:
– 250 euros for flights up to 1500 km,
– 400 euros for intra-Community flights of more than 1500 km and all other flights from 1500 to 3500 km,
– 600 euros for extra-Community flights over 3500 km.
No compensation is due to you if you have been notified of the cancellation of your flight at least two weeks before departure or that a replacement flight at similar times has been offered to you.
Only a delay of more than 5 hours gives the right to the possibility of a refund of the ticket if the passenger chooses to cancel his flight.
For delays of more than 2 hours, only support (catering, communications) is compulsory.

The first option available to you for compensation for an Air Seychelles delayed flight is to submit a claim to the airline. The response time is approximately two months. In the event of an unsatisfactory response, you can bring the complaint to the competent authority of the country.
