Air st-pierre: How to get compensation after a canceled, delayed or overbooked flight

A vacation ruined because of a canceled flight? Airlines including Air St-Pierre have duties and can compensate you.

Flight late, canceled, overbooked … Travelers have rights for flights to or from an airport located in the European Union (EU), Norway, Iceland or Switzerland. These rights expire after five years for France and the procedures are carried out directly with the company concerned.

For delayed flights

Did your flight arrive more than three hours late? It is possible to claim compensation from the airline according to its distance:

– 250 euros for flights not exceeding 1,500 kilometers,

– 400 euros for flights between two EU airports over 1,500 kilometers,

– 400 euros for any other flight of 1,500 to 3,500 kilometers,

– 600 euros for other flights over 3,500 kilometers.

For flights of less than three hours, it is also possible to take charge of a meal or drink while waiting, do not hesitate to ask for it.

The complaint must be sent by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt with the flight references. In case of bad weather for example, the company can refuse any compensation.
For canceled flights

Couldn’t your plane take off because of a breakdown or flight attendants went on strike? You have the choice between two solutions:

– Be patient and wait for another flight under the same conditions and without additional payment, with catering, communications and accommodation if the flight takes place the next day.

– Or give up his trip and get reimbursed for his entire flight within seven days without any special procedures.

Financial compensation is added if the flight has been canceled two weeks before departure: 250 euros for flights not exceeding 1,500 kilometers, 400 euros for flights between two EU airports over 1,500 kilometers, 400 euros for other flights of 1,500 to 3,500 kilometers and 600 euros for long-haul flights.

If there is a re-routing to the intended destination and the delay is between 2 hours and 4 hours, compensation may be reduced by 50% depending on the distance of the flight. Air St-Pierre can invoke a case of force majeure (snowstorm, cyclone, terrorist threat) and refuse to give compensation.

For overbooking

Your company has sold more tickets than seats available for your flight and you cannot board? This practice is legal, but the company must offer two solutions:

– Wait for the next flight to the destination with the same conditions with support for meals and refreshments.

– Renounce the trip with a full refund within seven days.

In both cases, customers receive compensation similar to canceled or delayed flights: 250 euros for flights not exceeding 1,500 kilometers, 400 euros for flights between two EU airports over 1,500 kilometers , 400 euros for other flights of 1,500 to 3,500 kilometers and 600 euros for other flights of more than 3,500 kilometers.

The transporter can also call on volunteers before boarding, which consists of leaving his place on the plane in exchange for services (voucher or financial compensation).
