The flight operated by Binter Canarias is affected by a delay or it is canceled:

A canceled or delayed flight can block the airport or delay your start or end of your vacation. But under certain conditions, you may be entitled to compensation from the Spanish airline. So how do you make a claim for a flight delay and how much compensation can you receive for delayed or canceled flights?

Flight delays and cancellations: Rules applied by the European Parliament

If you are departing from an EU airport on any airline, or arriving at an EU airport on an EU airline (including Iceland, Norway and Switzerland), you are entitled to compensation under EU regulation 261/2004 if your flight is delayed by more than three hours. If the flight has been canceled and you are taking a substitute flight, this flight must be only two hours behind the arrival time of the original flight to obtain compensation.

Binter Canarias must provide you with a meal with drinks according to the time of day (often in the form of a voucher) and explain the conditions of your refund. You also have the right to be reimbursed for your past communications.

If the flight delay requires you to stay overnight at the airport, the air carrier must pay for the hotel and transportation to the hotel (or transportation to take you home). In the event of a major disruption, airline staff may not be able to help you book your hotel. If this is the case, it is advisable to do it yourself and have the costs reimbursed thereafter. Supporting receipts are essential.

Claiming compensation: When do you get this right?

For any delay of more than two hours, Binter Canarias must provide you with free meals and drinks, the cost of telephone calls and an internet connection for your emails, as well as accommodation if the delay involves you staying overnight. Only reasonable expenses are paid, so unfortunately you won’t get free beers or fancy dinners. Here is the amount of financial compensation to which you are entitled for your delayed or canceled flight, which depends on the length of your delay, the duration of the flight and whether or not your destination is in the EU.

Exceptions exist, however

Yes there are exceptions. You will not be compensated in case of “extraordinary circumstance”. For example, when the delay is due to a war or civil unrest, a security problem, a natural disaster, extreme weather conditions (including the fact that an airport did not de-ice the aircraft) on time), restrictions on air traffic control, strikes by airport staff, a medical emergency on board and certain crew problems.

Make a complaint: The deadline for submitting the file

It is better to ask for compensation for your flight delay as soon as possible. However, you can legally claim compensation for past delays or cancellations.

Request compensation from Binter Canarias: The required procedure

The best way to claim compensation from an airline is to do so immediately at the airport, especially if you need a replacement flight or are delayed overnight. If you cannot ask your carrier to pay you immediately, keep all of your receipts so that you can present them when you request a refund. To make an official complaint, contact the airline’s customer service team by phone or email, including all reference numbers, codes and flight times as well as details of what happened.

Benefit from the help of compensation experts:

However, doing so to get reimbursed for your delayed or canceled flight is often discouraging. Airlines tend to drag files. If you don’t have the time and the energy to do it, get help from a specialized platform.

Today, there are firms offering to intervene remotely to resolve your air disputes by providing you with teams of experts who help you recover your compensation. This service is chargeable, but very effective. The startup we suggest will retain a commission if 25% is successful. If they don’t get it, you have absolutely no cost. No compensation for you, no commission for them.

Did Binter Canarias offer you a compensation voucher?

You have the choice to accept it or not. The regulations provide that the Spanish airline must pay compensation in cash.
