Norwegian Air flight delay, cancellation or overbooking? Injured passengers have rights

It is never pleasant to experience a flight delay, a flight cancellation or to be overbooked. What to do when this happens? Can we claim compensation in the event of flight delay?

Your luggage has been ready for 15 days, no taxi strikes on the horizon, you are leaving for the destination of your dreams thanks to one of our travel designers who has put together a perfect itinerary for you. It’s a day that starts off well! Of course, you are not immune to the vagaries.
The first obstacle, and not the least: the plane!
We love the plane so much that when we have a date with him, we usually arrive two or three hours early.

Are you coming so far to a date, are you?

However, there is always a risk that the plane may not be on time. Sometimes he even poses a rabbit for us and does not come at all.

One of the many benefits of entrusting your trip to an agency is the assurance that in the event of an incident, someone your favorite travel agent will take care of, or at least help you.

If the delay, cancellation or overbooking of your flight concerns an internal or regional connection far from your home (served by Norwegian) we will not cover it up: it will be complicated.
When, for example, you build a tailor-made trip to the depths of a country that is not located on the European continent, it very often happens that the flight is delayed by a day or two. You are generally warned the day before. In this case, you probably stop everything you do and you rethink the route.
On the other hand, if your flight is operated by an EU member company such as Norwegian or if it departs from an EU airport, you benefit from the protection of air passengers. You will be accompanied by the crew members

We therefore refer to the European regulation RE 261/2004.

It provides compensation from the airline:

– In the event of a delay of more than 3 hours on arrival,
– In case of flight cancellation,
– In case of overbooking.

The compensation varies from 250 to 600 € per person, calculated according to the distance of your flight.

Important steps, not to be missed:

– Take a picture of the departure board announcing your flight “delayed” or “canceled”, the aim of which is to leave the company no chance of saying that the passenger did not show up for boarding.

– Wait at the airline counter and request a certificate of delay / cancellation / overbooking and support, because the company owes you assistance: catering, refreshments, booking on the first available flight and accommodation

– Keep your access card on board. If kept by the Norwegian airline, a photograph with his name, flight number and date will do the trick.

– Keep the access card on board (boarding) of the substitute flight or at least one photograph.

– Keep the originals of supporting documents for any expenses you may have incurred (catering and accommodation costs, etc.)

Then you can enjoy your trip. When you return, contact a company offering to replace passengers in the process necessary to obtain compensation. Their teams of legal experts have mastered compensation procedures that you are unable to conduct.

Indemnification startups are able to remind airlines, including Norwegian Air, of their obligations. They enlist the services of lawyers specialized in air transport law. You only have to contact them online by sending them all the documents in your file. The process is completely free until the end of the file.

If successful, the compensated passenger only pays fees to the firm’s lawyers. These amount to only 20% of the compensation received.

If the cost of compensation is up to € 600 per person. You leave an average of € 120 in fees for the firms and you therefore receive € 480. Enough to finance part of your next trip.
