Compensation for Ural Airlines canceled, delayed flights: your rights
If you travel regularly like us, you are probably aware that there can be many ups and downs with the airlines. Flights delayed, canceled or overbooked.
A very large number of travelers do not know their rights, in particular in terms of compensation … And therefore sometimes misses € 600 in compensation! To make up for this lack of information, we suggest that you take stock of your rights. And above all, the means to assert them!
What are my rights as a traveler for compensation for flights arriving late, or which are suspended?
With the explosion of attractive offers from airlines including Ural Airlines, the number of flights is growing exponentially. The number of air passengers has literally exploded too.
At the same time, companies have implemented practices that are not always attractive to their passengers, such as overbooking, for example. The consequence is therefore an increase in the number of disputes between companies and travelers. To better control all these practices, aviation regulations have also evolved, in particular thanks to the European Union. Today, there are possibilities of compensation in the event of delayed, canceled or overbooked flights which allow passengers to be better protected, provided they know their rights!
What to know about compensation for air passengers injured by long flight delays?
CE legislation 261/2004 (long to read but easy to understand) regulates all flights departing from the European Union (Norway, Switzerland and Iceland included) as well as flights from other countries, if the company concerned belongs to the countries mentioned above.
If you are affected then you have the right to request a right to information from the airline which transports you. A right to assistance and care (catering and accommodation if the flight delay is at least 2 hours) as well as a right to a refund (depending on your case) and above all a right to compensation if the flight is canceled or delayed by more than 3 hours. But it’s up to you to ask for them.
This compensation is correlated to the distance of the flight and varies between 250 and 600 €! Suffice to say that it can sometimes largely cover the initial price of your plane ticket!
What to do in the event of canceled, delayed or overbooked flights to recover compensation?
The best advice is to get closer to the airline and ideally ask for a certificate of delay (this is not essential but very practical in the files). The procedures are then long, without necessarily putting goodwill on their side, the files bizarrely never arrive complete or get lost in the administrative twists.
Otherwise, you can appeal to the company
It’s a platform that helps travelers like you and me get compensation for a canceled, overbooked or delayed flight. The operation is very simple and does not require you to advance money to launch your claim:
– You file your complaint free of charge using the electronic form on this page (remember to keep your tickets and all the supporting documents linked to the flight delay but also all the additional costs linked to this delay). It is then studied by experts to be sure that it falls within the statutory indemnification clauses. The experts will contact you if necessary, to complete the request.
– If everything is OK, the procedure is launched by the compensation firm. You can follow the progress of the file directly on their site. Let yourself be guided, the team manages it for you!
– If the request is successful, you will receive your compensation directly (minus 25% of commission taken by the compensation firm).
