Small Planet flight delay, cancellation or overbooking, do you already know that you are protected?

Passengers, whatever their nationality, who take European flights operated by Small Planet, benefit from the protection of the European regulations mentioned in this sheet.

But to best define the concept of community thefts, it is often easier to exclude those who are not. Thus, the flight from a territory outside the European Union (third country) with a non-Community company like that of Cambodia will not be affected by these European provisions. For flights coming from an airport outside the EU, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland, only flights operated by a European company are concerned.

Being delayed by Small Planet

– Have you been the victim of a delayed theft? Did you miss a connection due to a plane delay?

It is certainly a hassle when you are faced with a plane delayed several hours. However, when it is an excessive flight delay due to the airline (overbooking for example), you are therefore entitled to compensation the amount of which is calculated according to the distance of the flight, and varies from 250 € to 600 €.

Indeed, Regulation No. 261/2004 indicates that EU airlines are required to pay compensation to the passenger in the event of a flight delayed more than 3 hours.

Air carriers are reluctant to comply with regulations

Although this law has been operational since 2005, some airlines are discharging their responsibility on the pretext that this delay is beyond their power (weather conditions, strike by airport staff, etc.).

For this, here are the catering and accommodation services to which you are entitled in the event of a flight delayed more than 3 hours, or even 2 hours:

In the case of a flight delayed more than 3 hours, you are entitled to cancel your flight as you can undertake your flight and request compensation for the delay.

As a result, in the event of a denied boarding, the passenger could choose another re-routing flight or be reimbursed for his plane ticket.

Request compensation from Small Planet

In the event that you choose to continue your flight despite the delay, you will be entitled to compensation from your company.

The reimbursement amount is subject to a three-level package

– 250€ for journeys of 1500 km (or less),
– 400€ for journeys between 1500 and 3500 km,
– 600€ beyond 3500 km (extra-Community flights).

Flights operated by the Cambodian company from an EU city are compensated at a sum which varies according to the distance traveled by their plane.

Please note that the value of compensation for delayed flight does not depend on the price of your plane ticket.
It is important to remember that in the event of a connection, the passenger may request flight pick-up to return to their original point of departure.

And if the plane never takes off

If the entire flight is canceled, and it is due to the air carrier, you are entitled to compensation of the same value as for a delay, or to a re-routing solution.

However, if the passenger is informed of the delay of at least two weeks, he is not entitled to cancellation compensation.

Similarly, when the company proves that the cause of the cancellation is external to it, and in no case could not have been avoided (weather conditions, strike by the staff, etc.), the passenger could not obtain a refund.
