Uzbekistan Airways: What financial compensation for long-delayed passengers

We imagine that you have all experienced these unpleasant strong situations of a very late plane or a canceled flight?

Personally, we have already had the right to:

– A flight to any destination that has been delayed by 4 hours! The company offered you a sandwich and a drink.

– An airline that goes bankrupt during your vacation. Suddenly, flight canceled. A competing company offers you a flight at a preferential rate but still much more expensive than your initial ticket.

When you left for your vacation, you bought a Tashkent-Shanghai ticket with a connection to London. In London, your plane arrived on time but by the time you had to cross the huge Heathrow Airport at a run, you missed your flight to Shanghai! In fact, the correspondence was not at all feasible. Uzbekistan Airways told you that you should not have bought a flight for which the change was so short. The question that arises is: why was this jumpsuit on sale? In compensation, you had free access to the VIP lounge while waiting for the next plane. In short, anecdotes like that, you must have quite a few.

Afterwards, if we put things into perspective, given the number of times you take the plane, you haven’t had so many mishaps, … But if it were to happen again, you will try to obtain compensation because you recently learned that the traveler has far more rights than you think. Here are examples of what European law tells you:

If the aircraft is operated by an EU-regulated airline, individuals have the following rights

– Flights below 1,500km with a delay of 2 hours or more, people are entitled to compensation of 250 euros.

– Flights between 1,500km and 3,500km with a delay of at least 3 hours, people can receive up to 400 euros.

– Flights of 3,500km or more with a waiting time of 4 hours, people can claim up to 600 euros.

– Deadlines of more than 5 hours give passengers the right to withdraw from the flight and be returned to their departure destination.

Do not hesitate to read all the details of the regulation established by the European Parliament and the Council with the description of the conditions.

Afterwards, we suspect that it is not easy to win a case and that it takes time. To get help, you also learned that there were companies specializing in the defense of travelers. They have already treated 400,000 cases. On their website, you can enter the details of your flight and they give you a free estimate of the possible compensation. Then, if they are called upon to obtain the compensation in question, they take a substantial commission (25% of what you get) but if you don’t get anything, you don’t pay! You first thought it was expensive, but finally getting 75% compensation is much better than nothing at all.

The advantage of such a company is its experience, its knowledge of case law, its lawyers accustomed to all possible scenarios and its knowledge of the technical specificities of an aircraft (for example, if you are told that the delay is linked to a defective part in the device, how do you know it is true?).

If some of you have already used this kind of service, you would be very interested to have your feedback. Afterwards, nothing prevents you from trying your luck on your own with the airline using the text of the European Parliament and the Council.
